Usually around 4 to 7 months from your consultation to the fitted crown. Most of that time is healing: the bone takes about 3 to 6 months to fuse with the implant. This is an implant day at Ethicare Dental. Every instrument is sterilised and laid out before anyone sits down. Our surgical team gowns up, the same as any operating theatre. It looks like a great deal of fuss for one small titanium post. That's rather the point. We'd rather be careful than quick.
When a tooth is lost, the bone that held it slowly shrinks away. Neighbouring teeth can drift into the gap, and your bite changes. A titanium implant fuses with the jawbone and gives it something to hold onto again, which is why an implant can protect the teeth and bone you still have.
We are preventive first. If your own tooth can be saved, we will tell you, and we will talk you through every alternative before you decide.

An implant needs healthy gums and enough bone to hold it. If there isn't enough bone, Dr Yvonne Szyszko, our specialist oral surgeon, can build it up first with a bone graft or sinus lift; Dr Glafcos then places the implant.
