At Ethicare Dental we have a Specialist Orthodontist that not only sees patients from the Putney/Wandsworth area but also from all over London. Dr Spathoulas works Saturdays at Ethicare Dental and deals with our more complex Orthodontic cases.
Orthodontics involves moving the teeth using a variety of techniques. Treatment can be carried out on both children and adults. At your first visit Dr Spathoulas, our orthodontist will carry out an initial assessment. He will find out what your concerns are and after a thorough clinical examination a tailor made plan will be formulated which is specific to your needs and requirements.
There will often be different treatment options. Dr Spathoulas will discuss the pros and cons of each so that you will be fully informed about your treatment.
A variety of techniques are employed here at Ethicare Dental. These include fixed braces where the brackets can be of the standard metallic type or white brackets which are obviously far more cosmetic. There are various systems available which can be employed within fixed appliance therapy including the Damon system. Indeed the Damon system is Kostas' preferred fixed appliance system. Dr Spathoulas not only receives referrals from the Wandsworth and Putney area but also receives orthodontic referrals fro all over London. Dr Spathoulas is also an Invisalign certified dentist.
The Damon Bracket System® is not just a new product, it's a whole new way of treating patients. Conventional treatment often requires removal of healthy teeth and/or the use of palatal expanders to make space. This approach is often uncomfortable, takes longer, and can leave a narrower arch and a flat profile. Conventional braces on the left are tied in with elastics, which cause friction and pressure, making treatment slower and less comfortable. Damon Bracket System® braces use a slide mechanism to hold the wire, which allows teeth to move more freely, quickly and comfortably.
Dr Muwahid is also trained in the use of Incognito lingual appliance therapy which allows the brackets to be positioned on the teeth where they can hardly been seen.
Prospective patients are required to read and understand the Orthodontic consent form prior to treatment.
Kostas graduated in Dentistry in 2000 at Carol Davila Institute in Bucharest. He then studied orthodontics for 3 more years when he was awarded his diploma in Orthodontics in 2003. Kostas undertook his qualifying exams in Athens and became a fully registered specialist Orthodontist in Greece in 2004.
He worked in Athens military hospital. orthodontic department for 1 year as a specialist Orthodontist, then moved to the UK in 2005. He became fully registered at the General Dental Council in the UK and he is included in the specialist list in Orthodontics.
His career in Orthodontics in the UK started in Aberdeen, Scotland where he established a specialist Orthondic practice in 2006. Over the next 5 years he treated more than 5000 patients, both adults and children with the latest techniques available in Orthodontics and his practice became became one of the most successful in Scotland.
In 2011 together with his family he relocated to London where he practices Orthodontics in the prestigious Harley street district and in Kent.
His main areas of interest are invisible cosmetic orthodontic braces including the Incognito Lingual appliance, Invisalign and the Damon system ceramic appliance.
He is a member of the British Dental Association and an active member of the British Orthodontic Society. He strongly believes in continuing professional development and keeps in touch with the latest advancements in Orthodontics and has attended most of the national and international orthodontic meetings.
In January 2012 he joined Ethicare Dental providing private Orthodontic treatments for children and adults and is able to treat not only simple orthodontic but complex multidisciplinary orthodontic cases working together with the other specialists in the practice.
